Facelift
Our Frisco and Plano facelift patients often say that the most frustrating signs of aging are those in the lower two-thirds of the face. Because the face is so strongly tied to our identity, it can feel like you no longer recognize yourself when your face takes on a different look and shape. Dr. Geo Tabbal’s approach to facelift surgery not only improves sagging, wrinkles, and jowls, it also restores the youthful shape of your face in a way that looks natural.

Is a Facelift Right for You?
The telltale sign of needing a facelift is not only wrinkles, it’s a combination of the two “D’s” — deflation and descent. As facial aging progresses, volume and elasticity begin to diminish, causing a loss of definition in the face. The primary goals of a facelift are to restore and lift tissue that has descended from its original, more youthful position.
A facelift accomplishes several things that other procedures — especially non-surgical procedures — cannot:
- It tightens the tissues of the face and neck.
- It corrects for the development of jowls.
- It brings definition to the jawline.
- It helps restore the position of the cheeks, which have often descended with time.
It’s important to distinguish between these goals and other reasons for pursuing facial rejuvenation. For example, a facelift will smooth out wrinkles, but if that is all you are looking to correct, you may want to consider dermal fillers or BOTOX® Cosmetic.
It’s also important to understand that a facelift focuses on affecting the lower two-thirds of the face; for concerns with the upper face, such as a sagging brow or bags under the eyes, consider combining a facelift with a brow lift or eyelid surgery.
Your Facelift Procedure
As the most comprehensive and long-lasting option for facial rejuvenation, a facelift goes beyond lifting the skin, restoring the deeper tissues and structures in the face to a place they were years earlier.
The specifics of your procedure, such as incision placement, will depend on the extent of your sagging and the elasticity of your skin. For patients with only minor sagging, Dr. Tabbal may be able to achieve your desired result with a smaller incision, often called a mini facelift and frequently referred to as a “short scar” facelift. Regardless of the incision pattern he uses, Dr. Tabbal will excise the excess skin and restore the deeper structures of your face.
Neck Lift
If your skin laxity extends beyond the face to the neck, Dr. Tabbal may advise you to combine your facelift with a neck lift. Following the same principles as facelift surgery (i.e., lifting and restoring the underlying tissue), Dr. Tabbal can solve concerns of a “turkey neck” by tightening the skin and muscles to give your neck a slimmer contour.
Your Recovery & Results
Although facelift surgery can be safely performed in an outpatient setting, you will need to be monitored the night following your procedure. In the days that follow, you will want to move around enough to keep your blood circulating, but your most important job is simply to rest.
Dr. Tabbal focuses on creating a natural-looking result that reveals your best self. As the swelling and bruising subside over the first few weeks, your final results will begin to emerge. Along the way, Dr. Tabbal will remain in close contact with you, monitoring your progress and making sure he has thoroughly answered every question or concern before it arises.
